Q. How should I prepare my RV for transport?

A.Transporting your RV can be a safe procedure if you follow these few steps. Keep in mind that when you transport any type of vehicle to must follow the regulations of the transporter. Each RV transport company has different requirements while your vehicle is in their possession but by following these simple procedures you can be sure that your RV is safe and secure from damage during transport.

You must first make sure that all items inside your RV are secure. This means that all and any items that can become loose, or are hazardous must be removed. You must tape or tie shut all the windows and doors inside your RV, and remove items such as pictures and mirrors. Ammunition, weapons and hazardous materials must also be removed. All antennas and exterior accessories must be removed. All fluid levels, which includes your transmission, wiper, oil and coolants must be checked and topped up. Make sure to check for any leaks and have them repaired before shipping. You must remember to check the air pressure in all the tires as it must be at correct pressure before your RV transporter will be able to have it shipped. If you are moving your RV during the winter you should prepare it as you do for storage during the winter. You should check your breaks, lights, hitches, tow bars and any cables are all in working order.
